Sr. Product Manager, Upstream

The Sr. Product Manager, Upstream is responsible for analyzing competitors, disease states, market data, payer data, and overall market conditions while developing strategies to ensure successful commercialization of pipeline candidates and licensing/acquisition targets.


A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related discipline is required.  An MBA and a biology/other medically oriented background is strongly preferred. A minimum of 3 years product management experience or 2 years consulting experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required – no exceptions. Versatile, adaptive and able to perform in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving global environment that embraces change. Previous consulting experience is a plus. Demonstrated ability to model in Excel. Direct experience supporting new product launches in the pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships. Ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences. Persistent, dedicated and focused on creating customer and team success that leads to individual success. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong software proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook. Travel of up to 30% may be required.


Perform competitor and market assessments.

Collaborate with Business Intelligence &Analytics team to develop quantitative assessments.

Lead cross-functional team in design of primary and secondary research initiatives for assigned assets including prescriber profiling and needs assessments, segmentation, sales force deployment models, and forecasting.

Support licensing and acquisition deals.

Develop and maintain strategic plans for pipeline candidates throughout the development process.

Assist with development of future brand strategy, positioning, messaging, and tactical plan.

Collaborate with Key Opinion Leaders, TLL and MSL teams.

Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Research and Development, Market Access, Operations, Regulatory, and Business Development teams.

Collaborate with Sales Training to ensure optimal rollout and execution of new material and initiatives
